Primary School Applications

If you live in Haringey, applications for primary school (for children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014) must be made by the closing date of 15 January 2018 for children starting in September of this year.

Sending your little one off to school is a big, independent step both for them and for you. It can come with a mix of emotions, which is why we put together a simple step-by-step guide to help you through.

1. Review the school admissions process
For a complete overview of the school admissions process, start by visiting the Haringey school admissions page for full details.

2. Do your research
There are many considerations that play a part when deciding the best school for your child including Ofsted reports, distance, size of the school, and recommendations to name a few.

Most schools in Crouch End are rated outstanding or good by Ofsted. The most up-to-date inspection reports are available here: http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report. Bear in mind that school rankings are not the only factor to consider when it comes to choosing the right school for your child. While Ofsted reports give you a snapshot of a school, they don’t show all aspects important for your child.

Use this handy schools finder tool to help locate your nearest schools.

3. Create your shortlist and Visit the schools
Once you have narrowed down your shortlist, go and visit the schools, either via appointment or at an open day and talk to parents who send their children to the school. This is the best way to get a feel of the school’s culture, to meet the headmaster and ask questions.

4. Apply
The last step is of course applying for a place. Submitting your application couldn’t be easier using the eAdmissions website. Remember, the deadline to submit your application is 15 January 2018.
